With most games, one player wins, and the rest lose. And then there are cooperative games, like this month’s game, Forbidden Island.

In a cooperative game, players coordinate their actions to achieve a common win condition or conditions; all players win or lose the game together. Think of cooperative games as a game where the players are playing against the game itself, and cooperative games are often quite challenging to win. Forbidden Island is a good introduction to cooperative games, the rules are too complicated and the game isn’t too challenging.
