Michael Vinson brings a lifetime of experience in the area of prevention education, educational research and community needs assessment and program development to the Arkansas Queer Men’s Social Club board.  Michael has worked in education, public health, higher education, and regional administrative organizations.  

Michael has written curriculum focused on health promotion and prevention and participated in research regarding the effectiveness of the interventions.  He has been a consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Health, leading multidisciplinary teams in assessing health needs in rural Western North Carolina and advocating for funding with the North Carolina legislature.  In Arkansas, Michael has worked at the University of Central Arkansas to develop and implement a campus-wide health promotion and wellness program, expand the scope of the student health services to include prevention and promotion services, and serve as part-time faculty in the Health Sciences Department.  He has also worked with regional religious and civic groups to assess needs and develop programs and missions.  

Michael looks forward to contributing as a board member to the work of the Arkansas Queer Men’s Social Club as it works to develop programs and initiatives that foster positive physical, mental and spiritual outcomes for Queer people in Arkansas.  

His board service reflects his belief that there are many factors related to living an authentic life including healthy  social and spiritual connections with self and others.
